Beautiful! November 29, 2005 8 out of 13 found this review helpful
Well, I must say, when I heard the music of FFX i loved it. So I bought it. Then I played FFX-2 music was more up beat, FFX was haunting. FFX-2 has some really great songs, no one has done this, but I will:
1. Memories of waves and light 1000/5 The best song ever. Even better then FFX's title song. This song really gets you in the mood for pkaying it. It really focases on what is happining in the game.
2.Real Emotion ( Sung by Kumi Koda, not Sweetbox )4/5 At first I did not like someone singing this song other then Sweetbox, but Kumi does a good job. It is sung in japanesse.
3.YRP fight #1. 4/5 Played at when you have to fight Lebalnc when she is dressed like Yuna. Kinda of a disco song, really good song. Makes you want to dance. : )
4. Yuna's theme 2/5 I'm sorry I was expecting something quite better for Yuna's theme. Okay....
5. YRP fight #2 ...... I cannot remember this song right now.. it was okay....
6. Mission Complete 3/5 This song really got on my nerves.
7. We're the Gullwings!!! 5/5 I love this song!!! It is really fun! Main theme to the celsis
8.Mission start. 1/5 ANNOYING!!!!!!
9. Mt. Gagazat. 5/5 This song really brings out the power of the Ronso. Drums make a suprise.
10. YRP FIGHT #3 2/5 Annoying also. Really ear spilliting at the beggining.
11. Game over 2/5 I liked FFX'S game over better, it seemed to say.. Try again! While this one says... You will never win!
12. Anything goes for Lebalnc! 5/5 My fav. song after memories of waves and light. Really cool song. Diffrent thenm the rest, cannot describe it.
13. Let me blow you a kiss! ; ) 4/5 Okay..... Um played when you fight Leblanc, Logos, and Ormi. This song was annoying cuz I could never win the battle! But.. cool song AFTER i won it. : )
14. Shuyin's Theme 4/5 Haunting and eerie. Of course Shuyin is kinda supposed to be haunting.
15. Besaid. 4/5 Piano played. I liked FFX'S Besaid better. It was up beat. And really captured Besaid. Now this Besaid also captured Yuna's fellings toward Besaid. I just liked FFX's up beatness.
16. Killaka. 3/5 Um just okay.
17. Luca 4/5 Really up beat!!! I liked it.
18. The Mi'hin Higroad. 1/5 I cannot tell you how annoying this is. Think The telletubbies singing a duet with Barney. Yeah, that annoying.
19. Mushroom rock road. No comment
20. The Youth League 4/5 A really powerfull song!! You cannot really truely seem to like it though.
21. The Machina Faction 5/5 Really love this song. Gippal is introduced here. really cool song.
22. Guadosalam 4/5 I liked the FFX's Guadosalam better. But this is good too.
23. The thunder plains. 2/5 Annoying also.
24. Macalaina Woods. 5/5 Really captures the fall of Macalaina and the guado.... so sad.
25. Bikinal Dessert. 4/5 Kinda of a rock song? Um, really diffrent.
26. New Yevon 5/5 Powerful also. It has tons of Aisan infulance in it.
27. The calm lands. 3/5 Okay song.
28. Zanarakand Ruins. 100/5 My 2nd fav. song!!! Yeo beats Anything goes for Lebalnc to 3rd. This really captures Zanarkand. The falling ruins, and Yuna's feelings toward Him and Zanarkand. Beautiful.
29. Sphere Hunters? ...... No comment. Can't remember if that is the title or not......
30. The temples. 5/5 Really captures and fall of the once powerful temples, and Summoners..... really sad not hearing the Song Of prayer anymore....
31. Discord 3/5 BLAH!!! Hate it.
DISK 2:
1. Gullwings March 4/5 Really funny song!! I really makes you happy!
2. The collussos. ??? Um, I cannot remember this at all.
3. Sleep tight! 1/5 Um liked FFX's Sleep tight better..... : )
4. Disquiet. If my memory serves me right, ( Iron Chef moment here. ) This song is really hectic. And makes your palms sweat.
5. Three mice in Cheatu Leblanc. ??? Um okay song.
6. Rikku's theme. 2/5 BLAH!!! All the themes or horrible.
7. Chocobo 1/5 Annoying. Think Barney singing ' Hit me baby one more time ' Yes, that annoying....
8. Paine's theme 1/5 Like i said, the themes do not really seem like the people they potray ( I don't no what that means either )
9. Bevelle's Secrets. 5/5 My 3rd fav. song. Yes, beats out Leblnc again. This song is really haunting and eerie, and potrays Bevell's secrets to a tee.
10. The Bevelle Underground. NO COMMENT
11. Yuna's Ballad MO COMMENT
12. Your friendly neigbourhood Gullwings! 4/5 Funny song! Has a monkey at the begining!!
13. Just leave it to us!! NO COMMENT
14 and 15 NO COMMENT
16. Aeons. 4/5 Um okay... song. Annoying beacuse I cannot win the Magus sisters....... : (
17. The farplane Abyss 4/5 Slow and haunting. Of course the farplane is haunting.
18. The troupe preforms. NO COMMENT
19. 1000 words. ( Sung by Kumi Koda on Japanesse ) 4/5 I loved it when Sweetbox sung it..... liked it when Kumi sung it.. but loved it when Sweeybox sung it...
20, 21, 22,23 24, and 25 and 26 no comment.
27. 1000 Words/ Wish that spans the ages. ( Piano versions) Beautiful just Beautiful....
28. Ending, until we meet again!! 2/5 the ending theme. I loved the FFX ending theme to death. it was beautiful. and eerie and haunting. This was up beat and happy. I wish Nobou Uematsu could have come back for this last song...

"Not Uematsu" doesn't mean "not good" September 6, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I wouldn't consider myself to be a professional critic, but i have played most of the ff games and have most of the music. It is also primarily what I listen to. Needless to say that this album is quite different from all of the others. I am a big fan of Nobuo Uematsu's writing style and didn't like this album as much as his works but i still enjoyed it. The album has what I would call a modern Japanese feel to it. Very fun and up-beat. There are really only about a dozen "good" songs in the soundtrack. Most of the songs are short little bits that are designed to loop over and over during gameplay, making the album, unfortunately, boring. It's most enjoyable only if you've played the game, but of course if you have played it, you would'nt be wondering how good the music on this album is.
My solution is simple. If you have played the game and liked the music, buy it. If you haven't played the game yet, buy the game and not this album as you will hear the music anyway but in a more enjoyable way, ei: during gameplay. ;)
I think this album was a good change from the traditional Uematsu music, but should only remain temporary. I feel it is good but not really Final fantasy.
does anyone?? May 20, 2005 0 out of 12 found this review helpful
does anyone know if this has Jade from Sweetbox on this CD, if not then can some one tell me which CD it is. And i want the music on the CD to be EXACTLY the same as it is on the game. Can anyone tell me which CD i should get?
what buyers want April 23, 2005 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
Thankyou Ian Vance for your insightful yet arduous reveiw. I'm sure there are a few people out there that will be curious enough to read it. If you did not notice it is a reveiw on the audio CD, not the game or its release. No doubt you know what you're talking about, but as a interested buyer with a limited spare time, I want to know what you thought of the CD, what it lacks and a short and sweet reveiw that tells me what I want to know. Remember in the future to keep the consumer happy and not to spiral into too much detail.
Although thankyou to xperfectdarknessxx for telling me that it did not contain Jade from Sweetbox. That my friendly shoppers is something you might wanna know. Therefore I did not purchase it, so do not pay any attention to my rating. Final Fantasy...the only good reason to spend day after day glued to the box.
An Excellent Soundtrack November 19, 2004 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I personally thought that this is one great sequel to the Final Fantasy Series. I like the change and attitude that each individual piece played according to the game. The battle themes I thought were a lot better, adding a little of the rock flavor in it, like YRP battles No. 2 and No. 3. My personal favorite tracks are Under Bevelle, Destruction (when you fight Vegnagun for the last time), and Desmise (when you fight Shuyin). I like the feel of the music, almost desperate, a strive to win, whatever you want to call it. The music was good, the ending themes were incredible, it had the feel of todays top orchestral music scores. Matsueda and Eguchi are doing a MAGNIFICENT job as being Successors to Uematsu's music in the Final Fantasy Series. This soundtrack is a great step in achieving that. Hopefully they'll make Orchestrated Versions of the Battle Themes and Other Level themes from this game. All in all, this is a great soundtrack.
