Fantastic June 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I absolutely love this CD. It has all the major classic final fantasy songs that Nobuo Uematsu has composed in an awesome orchestrated form. If you like the decked-out classical sounding versions of final fantasy music, then buy this CD, you won't be sorry. This is NOT for those who want the exact in game versions, the quality is much different.
Like being at the orchestra August 2, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I saw the Detroit Symphony Orchestra perform Uematsu's music and that was one of the most beautiful and memorible experiences I can think of. These CDs are so clear in giving the voicing for each and every single instrument that it takes you right into the auditorium as if the symphony were right there with you.
I have the FFX and FFXI full soundtracks and the sound of the orchestra concert just blows both of those away in terms of clarity of sound and the feel of have a full orchestra and the full range of music.
A Must-Have! March 14, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This 2-Disc set features the musical highlights of all the "Final Fantasy"-Games I - X. Recorded live in Japan, this CD represents the first video game music concert in the world - with amazing orchestral arrangements and an impressing choir, this CD features nothing but pure musical delight - for die hard fans as well as for people completely unfamiliar with Final Fantasy. Each song sends a new shiver down the spine, especially fans will know what I'm talking about. Of course the famous "One-Winged Angel", one of the most popular video game music pieces out there, is featured here in an excellent version, but more softer themes like "Aerith's Theme" are beautiful as well. The two vocal tracks ("Isnt it beautiful" from FFX and "Melodies of Life from FFIX") are great highlights. The only thing on this CD that can become a little annoying are the long moderations of the two hosts of the evening (the japanese voice actors for Tidus and Yuna from FFX), but they always set the right mood for the musical enjoyment that is about to follow, even if you don't understand any Japanese. So, I recommend EVERYONE to buy this perfect compilation/concert NOW - you definately won't regret it!!!
